Our executive principal will be taking to the grounds in his running shoes to raise funds to help students, as part of this year’s virtual Doncaster 10k.

Alexis Johnson 51 who has been executive principal of the Trust since 2019, will run 10 kilometres around the school field on 29 November in order to raise money to help with residential refurbishments at the education hub.

Alexis Johnson, executive principal of Doncaster Deaf Trust said: “Although the Doncaster 10k race can’t take place as planned this year due to the pandemic, it’s still a time to take part virtually and celebrate the 190th anniversary of Doncaster Deaf Trust, which has been supporting the Deaf for such a long time.

“So, I’ll be putting on my running shoes, shorts and a T-shirt and doing my best to make students and staff proud by raising money for refurbishments within our Darley Lodge and Greenaway residential blocks.”

The residential buildings are in need of renovation in response to Covid-19 to minimize the impact of students becoming infected or having to self-isolate. Help is needed to make smaller flats within the current accommodation.

Jonathan Frary, from Curly’s Athletes, who run the Doncaster 10k said: “We’re so pleased that Alexis at Doncaster Deaf Trust will be taking part in the Doncaster 10k virtually this year to maintain safety for both students and staff.

“We’ve been moved to hear about the extensive great work that the Trust does to support those who are Deaf or hard of hearing, and we hope that this event will raise essential fund to continue this work and provide a wonderful environment for learning.”
